The 2SB54 was used in the Crazy Face fuzz pedal and other Japanese pedals from the late 60's. All transistors are also tested in circuit for excessive noise. It's hard, it doesn't remove with solvents or fingernail scratching but it's yellowish transparent layer doesn't affect the printing or indeed the sound.
